DAY INTRODUCTION hosted in Staatsballet Berlin
04-05 April 2020
DANCE AS MEDICINE
Switch2Move Method focuses on “Creative Wellness”. Creative Wellness has a great potential to contribute to integral, personal, health and social care. Dancing not only gives vulnerable people the tools to deal with their condition and creatively solve everyday challenges, it also slows down the development of the disease. In addition, dance is a social activity and making real contact has a positive influence on emotional well-being. The Switch2Move method includes an inclusive exercise program to increase the health and general well-being of people suffering from Parkinson’s, MS, arthritis, brain damage and other chronic physical and / or mental disorders. The method has the basis that every person can explore and realize the potential to live a healthy and meaningful life.
Do you want to expand your professional practice? Do you want to strengthen people’s health through dance and contribute to peoples’ well-being and support them to function independently for as long as possible? Andrew Greenwood has worked as an international Balletmaster for years to support the physical and mental well-being of professional dancers. He assisted ballet dancers in injury prevention and rehabilitation. A few years ago, a good friend of Andrew got Parkinson’s at a young age. Andrew developed personal exercises especially for him. He saw his physical progress, but also discovered that he received emotional support from the dance exercises. Andrew has since further developed his methodology and is committed to various groups with intellectual and / or physical disabilities. His mission is to increase the well-being of people through dance, because dance brings body and mind back into balance.
The method he has developed under the title Movefulness® is based on the fusion of dance and mindfulness approaches.
The approach is already accessible in the Netherlands, Australia, Germany, Austria and Greece.
